Arminia Bielefeld upsets Bayer; Hoffe takes lead

Soccer Betting Lines

11/22/2008 - Bielefeld, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Artur Wichniarek and Daniel Halfar scored as Arminia Bielefeld knocked Bayer Leverkusen out of first place on Saturday in the German Bundesliga with a 2-1 win at Schuco Arena.

Hoffenheim took advantage of the upset, getting two goals from Vedad Ibisevic in the second half for a 3-1 win over Koln to regain the top spot. Hoffe took a three-point lead on Leverkusen, and remained three in front of Bayern Munich.

Franck Ribery scored in his sixth straight league match as Bayern Munich rolled to a 4-1 win over last-place Energie.

Leverkusen failed to break its winless streak in Bielefeld, which dates back to November 1999. Bayer was riding a six-game unbeaten streak into this weekend's meeting, but struggling Arminia pulled off another upset.

Wichniarek put Bielefeld in front in the 53rd minute, running onto a pass from Halfar down the right side before beating Bayer goalie Rene Adler from a tough angle. Wichniarek's shot got a little help from the left post, taking a slight deflection before going into the net.

Arminia doubled its lead in the 69th minute after Adler tried to punch a cross out of danger and it fell to Halfar. He finished with a left-footed shot, which turned out to be the game-winner.

Patrick Helmes scored his 10th goal of the season in the 78th minute for Bayer, but Leverkusen couldn't complete the comeback and lost its fourth this season.

Ibisevic continued his early-season magic, increasing his league-leading total to 16 to help promoted Hoffenheim return to the top spot in the league.

Ibisevic's 16 goals are just eight less than Bayern Munich's Luca Toni had last season to lead the league.

Toni, Martin Demichelis and Miroslav Klose added to Franck Ribery's opening strike in Bayern's easy victory - its sixth in its last seven games. Ribery and Toni each have six goals to lead Bayern, despite missing time with injuries.

Also Saturday, Raffael, Gojko Kacar and Cicero scored as Hertha Berlin opened a three-goal lead and held on for a 3-2 win over Bochum to solidify fourth place, Grafite and Edin Dzeko each had two goals in the second half as Wolfsburg beat Stuttgart 4-1, Halil Altintop had two goals as Schalke beat Monchengladbach 3-1 and Nikos Liberopoulos had two goals in Eintracht's 4-0 win over Hannover.

On Sunday, Hamburg hosts Werder Bremen.

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds

Will he or won't he?  Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.

Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.

"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."

Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.

Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.

But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.

Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback.  It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.

Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
